MINUTES OF VMC MEETING HELD ON 27TH JULY’2009

The first meeting of the Vidyalaya Management Committee for the academic session 2009-10 was held at 4:30 PM on 27th July’2009, in the Vidyalaya premise under the chairmanship of Mr. Kishor Kumar Mohanty, Hon’ble Collector and District Magistrate Cuttack & Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee. The following members were present

At the outset, Principal of the Vidyalaya welcomed the Chairman and other distinguished members with flower bouquet. He introduced Dr. Asutosh Debata, Principal Stewart Science College, An eminent educationalist as VMC member in place of Dr. Girish Ch Mishra, who retired from service in the recent past.
Then the agenda items were taken up for detail discussion and resolution passed for implementation of plan of action drawn for various matters.
RESULT ANALYSIS: Through a PowerPoint presentation Mr. A. K. Mishra, Principal presented the elaborated performance of the students in the examinations starting from class 1 to class 12 Science and Commerce stream. Both the home examination and the Board examination  result were good in both quantity and quality. The number of high achievers scoring 90% and above has been increased as compared to the previous year. In class 10th Board exam 17 students have scored more than 90% marks and to the much satisfaction of the school authorities, barring 1 or 2 all the top performers have opted to stay back in the Vidyalaya for getting +2 studies here. In games and sports, scouts and guides, social science and science examination, mini sport meet, Maths and science Olympiad, students of this Vidyalaya have excelled to their fullest potential. It is an added glory on the part of the Vidyalaya, maximum number of students have joined in professional courses like medical, Engineering and management courses after completing class 12th examination. The Chairman and all the member felt satisfaction over the performance of the children and lauded the efforts of the principal and his team of the dedicated teachers and wished to keep continuity of the process so as to achieve better performance in future and motivate the children to figure themselves in top performers list.
TARGET AND ACTION PLAN FOR 2009-10:
The target for achieving 100% result with quality was fixed for 2009-10for all the examination starting from class 1 to class 12 science and commerce stream. In order to achieve the target the under-mentioned action plans were drawn

  • Identification of slow learners will be made in the month of July itself
  • Remedial classes will be taken up for slow learners, (1 hr duration, 4 days in a week)
  • The Board class students will be given free hand to use library facilities. More and more number of library books will be procured considering the need and demand of the teachers/students.
  • The bright students would be given due exposure at appropriate level
  • Parent teachers meetings will be arranged at regular intervals to appraise the progress made by the children
  • The study materials on HOTS will be made available to the students by September’2009
  • All the Board class students specially the class 12 students will be provided counseling services as regards as their career is concerned by inviting the eminent consultant engaged in these fields.

OPENING OF SECOND VIDYALAY IN CUTTACK CITY
The strength of the vidyalaya has reached almost 1700 marks. Almost all the classrooms are overcrowded, much  higher than the normal strength. As there have been no scopes for fresh admission, the parents coming in a transfer are finding difficulty in getting admission. So, there has been an apt and just demand for opening of second KV in the city. While on this, Principal informed the august house that opening of another KV in the city at Madhupatna Cuttack is under active consideration  of KVS. Other than this, one feasibility report has also been sent to KVS authorities for opening of one more KV at CISF, Munduli. Both the proposal have got the approval of the Board of Governors of KVS. As soon as it got the nod of the Union cabinet, the same will be opened. All the members requested Hon’ble collector to take up the matter with the commissioner, KVS for the larger inertest of the people in Cuttack district and the collector agreed to talk with the Commissioner in a day or two.
VVN BUDGET
The proposal for VVN Budget for the year 2009-10 was placed for approval. After detailed deliberation, the proposal was passed after minor modification.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE CAMPUS OF THE VIDYALAYA
To the much delight of the members, Principal informed sanction of 30 Lakhs for the development of the Vidyalaya which include construction of a Basket Ball Court. While reviewing the ongoing construction work, the Chairman felt displeasure about the tardy progress of the work  the urged the Principal, to appraise the MP Housing Board as well as KVS authorities at HQ to issue directives for early completion of the work. While on this, the Principal mooted the proposal for construction of two additional cycle stands , one scooter stand and raising of compound wall to considerable height which got immediate approval of VMC. The Principal was authorized to submit the estimate of  above said proposals for getting administrative approval of KVS authorities.
CONDEMNATION OF UNSERVICEABLE ARTICLES
The list of unserviceable articles, books of Physics and library department was submitted before the VMC for condemnation. Since the power rested with the VMC for condemnation of articles work upto Rs. 50000, the VMC gave its nod for condemnation of unserviceable articles/books.

NOMINATION OF MEMBERS TO PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION/ VMC:
The following members were nominated to PTA/VMC as the post were lying vacant due to either expire or transfer of the members:

  • Ms Neela Nipani, TGT(English), Teacher’s representative in place of Ms. Meera Mohanty TGT who completed her tenure as member, VMC
  • Shri Ahok Kumar BisoiAGM, SBI, Collectorate Branch Cuttack as Vice Chairman , PTA in place of Mr. Sidharth Mohanty Senior DM LICI Cuttack who transferred to Mumbai.
  • Dr. Mahendra Kumar Nayak Asst. professor, SCBMCH as Gen. Secretary in place of Mr. Ashok Kumar Dash, who  ceases to be the member.His child completed the education from the school.
  • Smt. Basabi Sengupta, TGT(Maths) as Joint Secretary PTA in place of Ms. Neela Nipani nominated as   Teacher’s representative in VMC.
  • Mr. Srimant Kumar Moharana, Parent’s representative to PTA.

Other existing members of PTA/ VMC will continue as members for the session 2009-10 as per terms and conditions laid down by the Sangathan.
ANYOTHER MATTER WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE CHAIR
 Initiating suo-motto agenda, the members urged the Principal to checkj all the safety measures beneficial to the children which include:

  • Earth in the computer lab.
  • Proper functioning of lightening conductor
  • Fire safety measures.

The chairman desired that the campus should be eco-friendly .He stressed the need for plantation of more and more number of trees especially fruit bearing trees to arrest environmental pollution and promote healthy atmosphere all around.

The Principal requested the chairman to barrage installation of streetlight on the road connecting main road to the school gate in view of the pilferages/theft and mishappening occurred during evening hour. Recently two of the staff members have been robbed with their costly jewellary, money and mobile phones by the hooligans at knife point. The members felt concern about it and requested the chairman to take urgent step. To this, the chairman agreed to talk to the commissioner, CMC and arrange the street light at the earliest. The police personnel have already been requested to take stock of the situation and arrange patrolling in the evening hour.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Mr.L.Prasad, Vice-Principal of the Vidyalaya.
